2025 Graduate: Sebastian Torres

Sebastian Torres ’25 found that some of his most rewarding experiences at UConn Law have come from simply asking.
“If there’s something you want to do, go for it!” he says. “You’d be surprised by what you can accomplish just by taking the initiative, and by how many people are willing to support you in reaching your goals.”
With a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University, Torres decided to attend law school to expand his work in politics and further his understanding of law and policy. His biggest takeaway from UConn Law is that no matter how bleak things may seem in law or politics, there are always good people out there doing work to make the world a better place.
Torres was most surprised by the resources offered at UConn Law, saying the staff are “frequently overlooked but essential to our law school experience.” He credits the librarians who helped him with papers, the career counselors who polished his resume, the mental health and student activity leads who remind him to take moments to breathe, and the friendly faces in the cafe who asked about his day.
He also made great memories working in the admissions office, where he was able to meet students from all walks of life. Torres was fascinated to learn about the many different paths students take before coming to law school, and he felt honored to assist them in finding their place at UConn Law.
During his time at UConn Law, Torres was also involved in the Public Interest Law Journal, the Student Bar Association, and the Soccer Club.
After graduation, Torres will be clerking at the Connecticut Superior Court.
